2x Swarm 4.14

Post by royl »

2 Swarms at my yard today. One I'm pretty sure it's mine and was able to get it in a box using swarm commander and tinging.
However, the other I just happened to see it up about 12 feet in the tree. I plan to get it down tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Good luck royl.

I had fun yesterday as well.

I picked up about a medium and a half frames of bees beside the basketball courts at Barber Park yesterday afternoon. They were on the ground right beside the courts where children were playing. While park employees were very concerned, they calmed down when they saw me put down a hive, sit at the cluster, and set a frame of dark comb at the swarm. They got to see the show when bees parade onto old dark comb, and they got to see the queen when I located her and put her in a catcher clip. This was clearly an after swarm and the queen is quite dark.

What is the correlation between a dark queen and an afterswarm?

I don't know of any. I'm seeing darker queens more often. I don't know if it has to do with the majority of drones in my area being dark. It has been this way for several years now. I'm almost shocked when I see a golden drone.
