Pauses in feeding

Post by GreensboroBee »

Hi folks-- I'm at the midway point of being out of town for a week and wondering if my hive (established in April) will do alright with not being fed syrup while I'm away, given it's the dearth. Do others fret when they go on vacation? Many thanks

Unless they were extremely light when you left, they should be ok. The bees should have put up some honey in the frames at the sides of the hive and in the top super. They will tap into these, so you may look to steady feeding and a little heavier feeding when you get back.

Start practicing the heft test. Then you won't have to worry. You will know.
