Swarm-4/28/23

Post by Jacobs »

I set up 3 almost identical bait hives on my driveway pad about 2 weeks ago. 2 of the 3 had heavy activity for the last 5 days or so. I was beginning to think I had put frames in the boxes that had some feed and that bees were taking advantage of the food. When I put a feed frame out in front of the bait hives a few days ago, a few bees landed on it for a snack, but most at the bait hives ignored it. About 2 hours ago, a swarm came from the East and started landing and fanning at the 2 bait hives that had had the most activity. The bulk went into the first bait hive, and after about an hour, all bees had moved into that one. I guess there was some divided opinion about the better location, but presumably, the bees went where the queen went.
