Is this test Fill in the Blank, Multiple Choice, or essay type of answering?

Thanks

Caste

Studying for a test. I'm finding conflicting information. Are Honey bees a 2 or 3 caste system??? Is it just the Queen and workers; or Queen, Workers and Drones?

Thanks

2018 NCSBA Summer meeting

SO does the meeting actually start the morning of Thursday, July 19th? Just trying to figure out WHEN to book a room for and how long.

Thanks,

IPM board and mite count

How do you use an IPM board with grids? Is is a total count over the whole board we are looking for? Or less than a certain number per square?

Thanks

Vinegar in syrup

For a gallon of syrup, how much vinegar do I need? I have noticed some mold growing on the wood in my top five feeder.

You're funny.

Maybe, if the Mother Nature will cooperate with us on Sunday, and you have some free time around lunch, we'll invite you up for lunch and do an inspection.

Re: How to get Field bee to go to the split hive?

I just need to resist the urge to be over-protective and panic. You said to give them 3 week, so that is what I'll do. When I'm ready, I'll call and make arrangements.

Just hate taking a hour of your time just to drive up here and back, that's all.

Re: How to get Field bee to go to the split hive?

Awesome! Just wish they had an electronic payment system in place, as opposed to the snail mail system. Snail mail and checks take a while to get done. But I'll get that in the mail tonight.

Thanks

Re: How to get Field bee to go to the split hive?

Yes, the cell had a larva w/royal jelly in it. That is the only reason I decided to keep it. The laying pattern of the current queen looked good. She was in both boxes before the split. Here again, my inexperience shows. I have the queen and queen cell in two different hives. I wish there was a way ...

How to get Field bee to go to the split hive?

I inspected my hive yesterday. The queen and bees have been busy. The hive(2 deeps) , as a whole, was about 75% drawn out and filled with brood and food. I did notice a supersedure cell, about 2/3 down on a frame of comb - NOT on the bottom of the frame. So I decided to split the hive. I put the que...

When to split a hive?

When that are the signs that indicate that its time to split the hive? My hive is 2 deep boxes. Did an inspection on Sunday and noticed 3 frames in the lower box that had swarm cells on the bottom of the frames. the queen isn't Nectar bound, as the top box has some frames with eggs in it. I was info...

Re: Small group of bees at entrance all night

Hi Wally, Read your reply a little late. Move the whole hive just before sun-up this morning. Now I see why you said a little at a time. I have, what seems to be, a couple of hundred bees flying around the old location. I moved the hive across the yard, about 150 feet. this location is better for th...

Re: Small group of bees at entrance all night

Thank you for the reply. I still have a top feeder in place, and they still empty it, although not very fast. On top of the feeder is top, no inner top piece. I do have an inner top with a ventilation cut out. Should I replace the top feeder with the vented inner cover, should I use both (after I sc...

Small group of bees at entrance all night

Is it normal for a group of bees to hang out at the hive entrance all night, for a couple of nights? The overnight lowes have only gotten down to the low 60's, and the humidity goes up at night. Or, is this a sign of over-crowding, and they are getting ready to swarm soon? I have a second deep box t...

Thank you for that information.

Sounds like it would be a good idea to plant some tulip poplar in the yard.

Nectar flow

I read this term a lot. What does it refer to? How do you know when its happening? Is it happening now? Does it last long? Does it happen more than once in the Spring?

I'd like to add my name to the list too. I, also, work full-time, but can cut out early, half the time.
